Remote Monitoring to Beat the Heat?

Thinking ahead to next winter, I've been reading the discussions of remote temperature monitors. This afternoon it's 95º outside, I'm doing a 3-hour cook of some baby backs, and I'm even more motivated. Is anyone using a remote monitor so they can stay in the air conditioning today?

Have the DigiQ2 on the ribs and a remote on the other egg with the 2 chickens.

Yea 95 seem to be the magic #.Hot,anyway I use this cheap $14.99 deal from the home depot. It is supposed to be for meat, but so far,all i've used it for is dome temp.I just drop the probe in the dome thermo hole, and take the receiver out to the air conditioned barn. We'll see how long it lasts at high temps

I've had the same one for over a year Doug and it still works well. Found the temp about 5 degrees over the thermopen today but I can live with that. Hope alls well in Ga.

Thanks Pat,I would tell you that it's hotter than h&ll,but I know where you live :woohoo: Bet it's pretty warm down your way huh? :woohoo: I just wasn't sure about using it at higher temps, cause I can't stick the probe in a chicken wing :woohoo:Or can I? :silly:

I'm using a BBQ Guru ProCom4 to run a charcoal test. Heck, I haven't gone outside except once to walk Scooby the Wonder Dog. I think it's mental. If this were August, maybe 99 wouldn't feel so hot.The Naked Whiz

You can stick it in a wing or a butt and the temp may go up or down depending on the,,,,,,,,,never mind :woohoo: . As long as the temps here stay below TREX I'm fine with it. :woohoo: :silly: :woohoo:

I use a Maverick ET-901. It is inexpensive and nerdy enough.

I use a Stoker and connect it via a wireless bridge to my home wireless network. I got a logging software that you can use to track and set the temps - dern the software will even update you on status of both grill temp and meat via SMS msgs on your mobile phone. Let me know if you are interested.
