First the bad news. I turned 40 years old today.
Now the good news. My wife unexpectedly bought a large Big Green Egg for me. I think this is my favorite birthday. I have been watching this forum for some time. Now I can't wait to start and post pictures of my successes.

Tom,
Aw, 40 ain't so bad, it gets worse down the road, trust me ; )
And you obviously have a great wife, so it won't be so bad after all. Happy birthday, and enjoy your Egg! It's great fun to cook such good food!
-
Tom,[p]Did I miss something?
What's wrong with 40?
You'd prefer the alternative?[p]** RIP **

Tom,
Happy Birthday, congrats on the new egg and a fantastic wife. You're coming in to the best years of your life, enjoy, AZ
-
Damn Tom,[p]You have made me feel old here tonight, and I don't even have a new Egg to cheer me up. Thanks Pal.[p]Seriously...enjoy the new Egg.

Tom,[p]Happy Birthday and Congrats on your egg!!
-
Tom, I think I thought it was bad news when I turned 40. But I just really don't remember.
-
Tom,[p]Welcome New Egger and Hooray for your Favorite Birthday![p]A suggestion... it would probably be a good idea to change your forum name to a more distinctive handle as there have been a couple Toms on the board... which can get a little confusing. [p]Now go cook something for your generous wife. :~)[p]john[p][p]

Tom,
Welcome to the club (over 40 and BGE). I'd say she's a keeper. Now the big question is how will you top that present for her next milestone birthday????????
-
Tom,If you think 40 is bad news, you have a lot of bad news years ahead...I am 79 ans still it is good news when the new birthday comes around..Just look at the good years of Eggin you have ahead. You might consider the alternative.[p]RRP

Tom,[p]Ahhhh... yes.... 40....[p]That was a good decade...[p]But it ain't bad news. None of it's bad news, so long as you're still on this side of the grass.[p]Happy Eggin'[p]~ B

I think I will go by the name TommyRocket. It has something to do with my previous life. Thanks for the advice.

-
TommyRocket,[p]I like it. [p]So tell us.... if it's not too personal, what does your new name have to do with your previous life? [p]john
-
WooDoggies,[p]Oh, come on! You dont have to be a "Rocket Scientist" to figure that one out!![p]Just kidding man![p]The Smokey One
-
Smokey,[p]I'm not sure what you're implying, Damon. My innocent mind has Tommy being the president of his local scale model, solid-fuel rocket club.... but, of course, I'm probably way off base. [p]Either way, I like the name TommyRocket. :~)[p]Hope all is well with you, the Mrs. and the kids![p]john[p]

I used to work for NASA. It was fun. But then I lost my mind and went to medical school. Still in training but I have a BGE, cypress table, ash tool, the grate lifting tool thing and some other stuff. [p]I have had my BGE 2 nights now and cooked on it both times. Both easier than I thought it would be. First night steaks, and tonight burgers. Both good. I think my wife likes the purchase. What really surprised me was how easy temperature control has turned out to be. [p]Anyway I am having fun[p]TommyRocket
