Confederate Cornbread and cutting board

This is how I like cornbread, with Wisconsin butta and maple syrup.
I see a lot of nice cutting boards,... unusual ones from pic's on the forum. I got to thinking I'd like to have something out on display in the kitchen so I made this cutting board and it's been a regular conversation piece whenever anybody stops on over.
Made from black cherry with inlay of birdseye maple, black walnut, red ash and sugar maple. I hand cut the inlay.
I have not the courage to whack a knife on it.
Have a great Super Bowl day.

ClayQ,
I'm not believin' that cutting board! Totally awesome........
-
ClayQ, beautiful. One idea: whack on the back side, serve on the front side. I've got a couple of boards where one side has all the knife cuts and the other side is pristine.
-
ClayQ,
That is a true work of art! I don't blame you for not pulling a knife across it. Beautiful!
-
ClayQ,
I suppose painting it green is out of the question?
Looks great!
-
ClayQ,[p]WOW. That is fantastic Clay. Can I put in a suggestion? For the one you are going to sell...hint hint... For the Inlays use some of the wood from the sunken logs from Lakes Michigan ot Superior. I aggree about not cutting on that. I would never want to get it wet. I think it would make a great trophy...Maybe if we had a Great Lakes BBQ Association.[p]Nice Work Clay!!![p]E

Thanks, you got mail.

Eggecutioner,
Good suggestion. Good karma in that wood.

ClayQ,
from a wood butcher like me to a professional like you that sure is pretty! Just curious how thick is the birds eye maple vent door inlay piece and are the dowel plugs for looks or function?
Re-gasketing America one yard at a time. -
RRP,
Birdseye inlay is 3/16" and the dowels are cosmetic- they simulate fasteners that hold the draft door on the egg. I use Tightbond III glue to fasten all boards and inlay.
It's a labor of love and steady hands. I have 32 hours in this cutting board. No production setups, no templates, no nutten. But my tools are sharp.
Thanks Ron, you do good work also.

Mornin ClayQ,[p]Been wanting to make me a new cutting board for some time, more of a chopping block though. Yours is mighty purty, I would hate to put a knife to it too. You do have an eye for detail, I noticed you even added the thermo![p]Scott
