    Royal Oak sucks

The DudeThis is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, limber.

Walter SobchakNihilists! *uck me. I mean, say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.

I would imagine OO quality had a lot to do with the raw material as well as how they ran the plant.  I'm not sure there is any reason to believe they would keep the same pure source of raw material, so whatever comes out of that plant may not look like OO at all.
I agree.  What incentive does RO have to continue the process with the same raw material as OO.  Just eliminate the competition and produce more of your own product.  I hope I'm wrong.
As I recall OO had been fighting with the EPA and had to change their equipment/methodology. The feisty OO owner apparently pushed the deadline to the end and then closed shop. Sounds like RO which has a history of buying other small operations was in the wings with checkbook in hand.
