New Small Egg - question

I am picking up my new small egg on Friday. My large was a demo egg and had been previously cooked on. I am wondering if I need to do any type of burn with the new egg before cooking food. Looking for any recommendations. Thank you in advance.

Most people recommend just going for a cook, no need to do a "pre-burn". They do recommend keeping the first few cooks under 400 so the gasket can set.Steve

@SkinFan I'd go with a L&S which will give a nice long burn time at a low temp that will for sure suffice for a good break in.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

No break in needed. Go as hot or warm of a cook as you want. Enjoy.

@NPHuskerFL - haha. Gaskets burn away pretty quick anyway, I say let it rip and have fun!

Is it to prevent you from burning up the gasket or to allow the adhesive to set?Steve

@stevethegreat allows adhesive to set.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

@stevethegreat the egg is kiln fired dried so it's not gonna cure anymore than it already is. The "break in" is just to set up the gasket seal adhesive. ;-)LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL
