After seeing a handful of busted domes I've been waking up thinking mine is about to commit suicide. How often do you tighten the bolts down? Is this an annual thing or something you need to do often? I'm still within year one of egging and wanted to see how often you should do this. Thanks, I appreciate the forum. Great info (and quite entertaining today!). Thanks!

You should check them after a few cooks and do that two or three times. Then just a couple times a year afterward. I actually checked mine this weekend and all was good.

Nice. I'll try that. I also don't want to go too tight as when I searched I saw some others that we're breaking them off. Thanks. -
I've never checked mine and they are fine after 5 years. Use it 2-3 times a week year around.Dan, Columbia,Mo.

After I tightened mine so that the bolts bent I then ran another nut up against the first. That is an old mechanics trick called double nutting. I haven't checked in years since I have never seen a problem...I'm dead serious!Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.

I used to double nut when I was younger....

Good pull, nola.
I have that on CD. Cerwin Vega made me a very happy teenager in high school with 6.5s and a 12 inch sub. How sub-versive of me while parked next to St. Timothys.
