First beer can chicken. Lemon pepper, garlic, onion powder, rosemary, and thyme. This thing smells awesome! Can't wait to dig in when it cools down a bit. Doing wings later tonight. I have had my XL BGE for about three weeks, love this thing! I wish I didn't wait so long to bring into the family!

Looks great. I have been cooking spatchcocked lately but the wife prefers the BBC.Milton, GA.

I vertically cook mine. Looks great. But spatchcock is a godly word here. Spatchcock one or die.

Obviously I am new, why is spatchcock the way to go?XL - Chandler, AZ

Looks great! Congrats! Don't tell anyone but I like the vertical chicken over the spatchcock when in a rush. I think many prefer the spatchcock because by laying it flat on the grid it gets done a little more evenly. (i.e. breast over legs and thighs)XL BGE; Medium BGE; L BGE

Because people get to use the word "spatchcock"? I always say it like Captain Kirk. Joking aside. . YouTube it. You might like it better.Drigler said:Obviously I am new, why is spatchcock the way to go?

I like it because my vertical chickens fall over (too much beer, i guess).
Pretty much the same results and spatchcock is easy.

Looks like you did great! Congrats. Love beer can chicks myself. @acorn they don't take too long at all. About 80 mins at 400.

Or you could just get chicken halves but then you couldn't use the word spatchcock. In the middle of Georgia! Geaux Tigers!!!!!

Do a spatchcock next time and compare the results. I prefer spatchcock and not just because of the name. Some have said that the beer doesn't get hot enough to actually make a difference. I juyst like the evenness of the cook when it is spatchcocked.
