New dome installation: Question(s)

After the patio disaster of August, I just received a new dome for my large. New dome has brand new gasket already: Does anyone recommend installing new gasket on the actual Egg. My original gasket over 5yrs.old now is still fine, but flat as a pancake against the top of the EGG. Thanks for your input.

I'm thinking those old hinges are going to be my talking point for my next ceramic cooker purchase :>)
Gee honey you won't have to help me cook anymore if I can open it with one hand.......

My wife "never" touched my BGE in over 5 years of ownership.
And I "never" tightened the band holding the dome to the hinge and handle assembly. Mix equal parts of routine bickering, female impatience, and vodka and what do you get?
Someone who's pissed off at the BBQ master, who slams down the dome with one hand, and doesn't release the hinge lever!
Let me tell you, it "was" just like Humpty Dumpty.
