While removing the cover of my Egg today I did not realize I was taking the damper top with it. It looked like it was in slow motion on its way down to my concrete patio. I knew it would not survive the impact but could do nothing but watch it go. Perhaps a good epoxy adhesive will make it functional again. In the big scheme of things this is not that big of a deal.

Here's my small cap. It's got more seams than a football! Works just fine!

Man that sucks! When you get a replacement or the current one fixed put a little gasket material around the dome to secure the capExtra Large, Large, and Mini. Tucker, GA

Problem temporarily resolved. A quick trip to OSH for a couple of hose clamps and Loctite "Extreme" adhesive has me functional again. I may still do the JB Weld to fill in the gaps as Plano and it appears Fred have done. The Mrs says "just go buy a new one". Why would I want a new one when I can have one with such character??? She just does not understand.

I bought a new one because we take it to my Mom's to cook and she would obsess about it. For us, it was just easier.Flint, Michigan

Try one of these. No worries about the ceramic cap falling and breaking, keeps the rain out, and this piece replaces 2 things - the daisy wheel and the ceramic cap. I really like mine.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.

Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, limber.Walter Sobchak: Nihilists! *uck me. That steel cap looks like the thing for me! Thanks all. How many times after I open then close the dome do I realize I need to put the daisy wheel back in the right setting? Too many!LBGE - July 2012

Truck OK?
)
Rolled the egg behind my truck to grab something behind it. Completely forgot to roll it back. The next morning I grabbed a Coke from the spare fridge in the front of the garage. I usually walk behind my truck when getting in it. The Coke changed my route to the truck. Didn't even notice it behind my truck bed. Must have backed out 6' before hearing something. Figured my muffler maybe dropped. Wasn't so lucky. The egg never even crossed my mind. Was a little hard seeing the egg in pieces when walking behind the truck. I was lucky it was the spare large I found on Craigslist for $200. If it was my main warranty egg I would have cried like a little Sally! Live and learn I guess.

Haven't tried any JB Weld on it yet. Have an additional plate setter for my warrantied egg. Had a third large a few weeks earlier but gave it to my parents for a gift since it didn't see much use. Wish I still had that 3rd large a few weeks later. ) My Dad puts it to good use though. Gave me a chance to pick up a small and mini. Just being the two of us the small and mini are nice compared to two larges in our situation. Maybe stumble across a 2nd large on Craigslist down the road."The pig is an amazing animal.
