here's a good way to do a broad (multi-city) Craigslist search to see medium GE prices.  you could also use one of those Craigslist search engines, but they seem buggy and miss a lot of postings:

  • I have a medium with nest that I have replaced grate, gasket, heat guage, fire ring and added plate setter. I have used it about a dozen times since.  Looks good and works good. After about four or five weeks, I haven't been able to sale at $400.00.  Did have offers for $300 & $350.

  • I just bought a used Medium in great shape three weeks ago. It was 3-4 years old for $125. It came with a table and grate gripper. Could not pass it up!
Only 3 things in life matter. Family, Steelers and my BGE!!

  • i would pay $300 for a used medium in good shape.  Never a dime more unless it came white as snow.  There's something to be said for painting the inside black yourself. my 2cents

i agree, but for a different reason -- it's not worth more than $300 if there's no warranty.

Bought my XL from the local propane dealer ( Wilford Propane , Orange Park FL. )  XL, Nest, Wood mates, bag of lump. $1000.00 + tax. Fully assembled and delivered and set on my deck. ( about a year ago.)
Yes, this is the biggest one they make.

For reference: I sold my used '05 medium BGE for $375 w/ daisy wheel and newly applied (unused) nomex gasket and brand new (unused) firebox (replaced by warranty). I paid $30 for the gasket and got the firebox replaced under warranty to get her in good shape for the sale.

no nest, no plate setter, no accessories or extras aside from the new nomex gasket, new firebox and daisy wheel. The old firebox just had a small hairline crack so gave them the old firebox too.

It was a good deal; buyer was more than thrilled with the condition and the purchase and I got a very fair price. Went really well.
