A couple years ago i made the decision to buy a bge chimnea assuming it also had the lifetime warranty on the ceramics........guess i was wrong!! If i would have known i would have kept my hard earned money and bought a cheap 50 dollar pit from Walmart!! I have made maybe at the most 20 fires in it and today when i walked over to put the ceramic cap back on since we roasted marshmallows with the kids last night long and behold a large chip large then a quarter. After asking my dealer they tell me it has no warranty!!

At the moment i am not very happy egger! :evil:

I could certainly be wrong..but I would make a call to HQ to verify that...I also thought it had the warranty..

This is not good. I have been desiring the chimnea because I figured if it burned anything like the egg then it would be an awesome fire pit. Keep us posted.

I just did a quick search on BGE website. Unfortunately it states that the Egg chimnea has a One year warranty. I would still call BGE and see what they say. It would have been nice for your dealer to let you know at the time of purchase about the warranty being very different than the actual Egg.

Seems like bge popping big chips of paint is a going problem with eggs lately!! so this chimnea problem i am having is a known issue but they seem to be over looking it somewhere!!

still was not aware of the small print on such a large priced item!!! Still made of same product so what does this show for the out come of the eggs left in the open??

Totally agree Mike. This should be much more apparent especially being that it's more popular products are lifetime warranty. Was thinking of getting one of these but that is in serious doubt now.

Thay work "well" here in Md..but when we get down close to zero..the opening is the only real warmth...I love mine but it is realistically designed for a little warmer winter climates than ours..nice for fall but not much for winter..

The chimnea is made of the same material as the egg but a thinner shell and hence the different warranty. An egg is much thicker.

not by allot and i am not talking cracking i am talking big chunks of glaze falling off !! And from what i can see the egg is made of the same glaze and also cook at the same temps so all in all same product!

The popping of the glaze could be from a pebble under the surface when fired. It has happened before and something BGE only can answer for you. The thickness is the reason for the warranty difference. Don't shoot the messenger
