EGG Mates

I scored a EGG Nest on Craigslist for $30 from a guy who upgraded to a table. The guy also included a set of EGG Mates for free. The wood slats on the Mates were pretty beat up and stained. Rather than replacing with wood, I went to my local restaurant supply store and picked up a couple nylon cutting boards for $15. I also replaced all the hardware with stainless for another $5. $20 and I have an upgraded set of EGG Mates.
The handles on the cutting boards make perfect towel holders.
Sorry for the awful late night Blackberry photos. I just finished putting the EGG back together.

SWEET Upgrade. All you need now is a Nest Handler!
-
Remember one very important thing about that nest. It has the small wheels and they can and will catch on any little crack or pebble, so pull it and don't push it. I'll be replacing mine with some big air tires I think. Something that will roll on grass would be nice. just be carefull with it, I had one of my eggheads roll his just one house down and SMASH went the whole thing. :pinch:
Now make those fancy new mates dirty -
I thought you had like 3 guys that handle your egg. :P
cheers -
I do. :P

OVERSIZED phuematic tires would be a plus!

Real nice. That will work.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

Looks like you did real good. With your egg in a nest you can move your egg around a little and with the new and improved egg mates your cooks will go a little easier. Now if you want to you can put a handler on your nest and then your egg will be fixed ridged to your nest.
Are the caster wheels on your nest 4 inches? -
Good job !

That's what I call bargain shopping.

I've had the EGG in the Nest for about a year.I learned pretty quickly how to maneuver it without tipping it. I'm now just getting to installing the mates.

The current casters are a standard 3" swivel. I hate the idea of pneumatic wheels - they aren't very attractive. However I do want to upgrade to a 5"-6" locking swivel caster. -
Nice upgrade. Too bad the nests just don't come with the egghandler built in with the eggs. Nice work, thanks for the pictures. If the casters are 3 inch than that's most likely the older nest. They have a handler for the old nest and the newer nest that has 4 inch casters. I guess there is a difference.
