To make a short story long :ermm:
I am in the process of making this soup that calls for 5 hours on Low in a slow cooker. I am guessing that a Low setting might equal 250??? No idea!

But Wait! There's more!!
In my one horse town , I had 2 choices of Barley; Quick & Medium. I grabbed the Medium. Since this recipe calls for a 5 hr cook, I guessing I should wait until the last hour before I add the barley?
Thanks!

I agree with the last hour, you can always extend the cooking time. Here is a variation. Sometimes on the stove in a Dutch oven and sometimes on BGE.

I make split pea soup with a crock pot. Easy as can be. Put in ham, ham bone, 1 lb. bag of spit peas, veggies you like, 2 bay leaves and 1 large can of chicken stock. Turn on low for 24 hrs. Don't open or look. After 24 hrs., take everything out, add another can of stock and season to your liking. If it's to thick, put in more stock. No fuss, burning or stirring. Works every time, no problem. Should work just as well with barley or any other beans, etc. Good luck.
