OT - Pepper burn in eye!

Don't let anyone tell you that milk will not stop the burn from peppers! :huh:

About 30 minutes ago I was finishing up making some Bloody Mary mix to take to the Hoss Fest later this week. The last step involved adding a pinch or two of dried, smoked hot peppers to the mix.

A few minutes ago I rubbed my eye and :ohmy: FIRE !!!

Washing with water didn't help, so I poured a little whole milk into a bowl and rubbed it along the edges of my eye several times, then rinsed with water. Minutes later, it is only a distant, but still VIVID memory ! :S :(

capsaisin is an oil and therefore not soluble in aquoeous solutions.. soap, oil based or organic solvents are needed.
which is why hot pepper containing dishes are often served with sour cream and avacodo both high in oil content. mayonaise, 1/2 & 1/2, butter will to the job ,, skim milk is not very helpful..
and don't ever put an altoid up your nose the mint oil burns the nasal membranes hot and cold water make it worse .. don't ask how i know this

It WAS my aiming eye, but considering Steve's comment above, I'm not sure I will be able to blame any poor aims on the pepper.

We gotta get rid of this here RAIN forecast !

I have a big pot of Egret Chili simmering on the Egg as I type.

Lawdy that chilli sounds good!We only have a 20 % chance tomorrow and then no more til Sat nite.FWIW I made 8 QUARTS of Apple Pie in a jar for the ones that can't handle it straight.Did a little duck scouting this afternoon also.Saw enough to give em a go.BTW no need to bring 'Loney,possum,coon,squirrel or venison.We have plenty on premises. :laugh:
