Pearls In Paradise !

I did a little research yesterday to see if what I had read was true. It is! BJ's club carries Pearl Hotdogs! Cool! I didn't pull the trigger and join right then and there but decided to think on it for a little longer. The 32 oz., 1/4 pound Pearls were $6.99 and at first I thought that sounded like a lot for a hotdog. LOL, you can tell I haven't been buying any great dogs recently. Later that day I was in Publix and happened to see their in house brand. Same size package, same size dogs and same price! All of a sudden the Pearls were looking like a much better deal. So in a weak moment this morning I drove back to BJ's and took out a membership - $45 . . . then they gave me a cash back card for $10 which brought the cost down to $35, that was better! Then the young man explained to me that I was entitled to two membership cards if I wanted and could pick up the other one when ever I wanted. Me - "Does it have to go to a family member?" . . . Him - "No". Cool! I have a buddy that will love that.
Not only do they carry the Pearls Hotdogs but I also saw Pearls Smoked Pastrami that looked like a winner also.

The Pearls . . .

on the egg . . .

I have a small scrap of fire brick I use to keep Brats and other sausages from rolling. That way I can egg them on all sides . . .

On a raised grate, 300º to 350º, a little left over hickory for smoke, turned every 3 or 4 minutes . . .

Looking good . . . these are the first dogs I have ever egged, they took about 15 - 18 minutes . . .

All I had in the house was a little yellow mustard . . . that was enough. :cheer:

Well, I can now understand why everyone raves about these dogs, I have to agree, they are wonderful. The seasoning in them is perfect, nothing dominates yet everything pulls together. The casings are the real deal and have great snap to them. I haven't had a dog this good in many, many years.

Have a great weekend All,

Blair

Been tellin' you east coast guys for months to check BJs for Pearls. ;)

Glad you liked them - try some Bomba on 'em sometime!!

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Hey Michael, I have heard BJ's has had them for a long time, I finally got around to looking into it and am happy I did. Now all I have to do is not eat to many of them, the nutritional information is a wake up call! At least they are low in carbs, my diabetes will like that. ;)

Hahahahaha, Ya, I probably am forever hooked. The La Bomba is going to have to wait till they start marketing it locally. The chili and onions sound like they would be to die for! These dogs taste so good I'm not in any great rush to cover them up. The day is going to come when chili or kraut or something else irresistible is going to sway me. I saw a post where someone had marinated them in a bottle of beer! That sounds good!

I have to agree Hoss, with no shipping charges and being able to re supply within 15 miles from home and not having to live any further north then I do I have to agree. Cheeseburgers and Pearls in Paradise is music to my ears, eat your heart out Jimmy Buffet.

Try one with a good chili ;)

    and a toasted split-top bun.

Hahahaha, the chili is a definite must, the split tops are another story. I grew up in New England and that is the only proper way to split a dog bun, I wish we could have impressed that on the rest of the nation! I may have to resort to a homemade split top. That could be wonderful!
