I saw a posting back in 02/2010 by RRP showing the setup he uses for reverse searing. He had spider and on top of the spider he had a cast iron grate. Does anyone know what size cast iron grate to get for a large BGE? Where to Buy?

Buy the BGE cast iron grid that is made for the small. Works great!

I have a small BGE Cast iron grate that I use on my large egg.I put the legs up on the spider and the cast iron grate on top of the spider.I have the egg set at 450 dome with the adjustable rig on top of the fire ring.
I sear the steak on the CI grate( depending on thicknes) for about 1 minute, turn 45 degrees to get grill marks and sear one more minute, flip and do the same on the otherside. Then I take off the steak put the BGE grid ontop of the adjustable rig, insert a thermometer into the steak and place on the top grid and cook until desired doneness( 125'med rare) internal. And you can cook veggies along side.
Hope this is what you were talking about. -
Thanks for the help!

Small CI on Large just like Jon except I go legs down.
NOW that I think about it: legs up/legs down ??? just do it with the lower placement of grate :blink:Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers. -
Mflyer, Here is what I do. Tim
Here is the sear first
Then I raise the large thick pork chop up high in the dome using my adjustable rig and simple bring the internal meat them to the desired temp or you simply reverse the process. Tim
