ET-73 shows 29 degrees

Smoker temp shows 277 versus dome temp of 250 (clipped onto dome Therm. and the meat probe shows 29 degrees. Butt was thawed ( I think) went straight from fridge to Egg. Leaving for couple of hours will check then. In past bad probe displays LLL, HHH, or ---. Anybody ever seen one that just reade erronious temps? Good thing that I have a Walmart special as back-up for food temp.

Brokersmoker, Turn your Maverick off and swap cables on the Maverick and turn it back on. Just to test then switch back. Tim

That was my second thought.

My first?
Remove the probe from the meat and let it hang in the open air, or in your hand. Check the temperature in a minute or 2 (this isn't as fast as a Thermopen...)
