I am new too the BGE.. I was wondering why the chimney kept wanting to slide off and fall..
the sliding lid and the daisy ring does not keep their position when I open the lid. The screw is tightened all the way already but maybe it can use another washer, can they be tightened to give a little more friction?
I know they can't make the ceramic and cast iron real tight together, is the solution just a strip of foil around the chimney?

The solution is to keep cooking and after you get a little build up on the chimney and daisy wheel they'll be fine. Also put the daisy wheel on with the screw focing the front, that should help keep it from moving on you when you open the top.

Can you give me a tutorial how did you do that!
Thanks! -
What you see is 1/6" thick Cotronics, but any gasket material will work just fine. Adhered with Permatex 26B Hi Temp silicone available at any auto parts or WallyWorld. Your Egg will shut down quicker when you install the ceramic top.

Thanks I got the silicone but was wondering where you got the "cotronic " from
what does it mean ? -
Cotronic is a high heat gasket material sold by the Cotronics corp. I'm not sure who carries Cotronics. You can achieve the same result with another brand called Rutland. Rutland gaskets can be found at your local Ace hardware. Go in asking for Stove or oven gasket material. If they don't stock it they can usually get it in a few days. I ordered mine one weekend and picked it up the next.

Hi fieroguy (Mike)
if you have some extra cotronics left can I buy a strip from you?
