If you are watching your cholesterol, maybe give this a try:[p]1 1/2 lbs. ground turkey
6 Tbsp. fresh breadcrumbs
1 tablespoon A1 sauce
1 tsp. ital seasonings
1/2 tbl salt
1/2 tsp. ground black pepper
1/2 onion -- sauteed
2 raw garlic cloves, chopped
1/4 cup eggbeaters, or 1 egg[p]Form into 4 tennis balls and flatten them into patties -- spray both sides with oil. Oil your grill-topper -- it's better than putting the burgers right on the grid.[p]Prepare BGE to 400*. Grill burgers until cooked through, about 5 minutes per side -- 165 internal. [p]Serve with sliced tomatoes, maybe on sourdough bread.

Prof Dan,[p]I'm not a turkey burger fan, but... Last night, as I was using a napkin to clean juice off my chin from a double-decker beef burger (two patties with two slices of cheese, a tomato slice, and some arugala leaves in between and wrapped with bacon), I was feeling more than a little guilty. I actually thought about the two packages of ground turkey that I have in the freezer that have been shoved to the back to make room for all the beef and pork products that I have either purchased for future cooks or am storing from previous cooks and wondered what I could do with it. I really do need to get back to fish and fowl. I'm afraid of what my next cholesterol test will reveal, and I doubt my doctor will understand just how good beef and pork taste cooked on an egg. [p]Thanks for posting your recipe.[p]Paul

    PapaQ,
not necessary,ya know. Mine kicked up to 265 and my triglycerides were 245...my naturopath doc put me on a low carb diet and withing 4 weeks I was back at normal levels. If you read the original Atkins book (he was a cardiologist, ya know) it will explain how that eating plan will help those of with hbp and high cholestrol as well as diabetics. Plus ya can eat a lot of dead meat cooked on our beloved Egg with a clear conscious![p]Penny

  • Prof Dan,
We have had great success with turkey burgers, even my beef eater husband thinks they are excellent. One tip, I rub a little Liquid Smoke on the top and bottom of each patty. It makes the outside have a nice brown color as it cooks.

Prof Dan,[p]No need to laugh ... We will venture into turkey burgers from time to time too. Still like beef and bison better, but the turkey burger is, as you say, pretty good.[p]Puj
