My buddy has cords and cords of apple wood he cut from clearing an old orchard. It has been stacked behind his building for a couple years. He said I can take as much as I want for smoking. What do you need to do to this stuff, just debark and cut into chunks? Is there any worries about mold or fungus ? Or does the heat take care of that? Also does white oak have any smoking value?

I wouldn't use any spalted wood, or moldy or fungusy looking wood. It isn't worth it. If he has some nice hard clean pieces, go for it.The Naked Whiz

Hey , just finished a modified version of your table. White oak with granite slabs for the bottom and top work surface. I ran them both to the front edge. Looks good.
