My ole lady has several pieces of cast iron skillets, and a couple bigger dutch ovens. My ??? to ya'll is, Is there a dutch oven that is short enough to fit under the grid while sitting on the plate setter on my L egg??? Or is there another avenue I should look at???

Thanks fer any input... ;)

Are you talking about a plate setter legs up with cooking grid on top and putting a DO in between the two? You can put any pan or pot in there as long as it fits! :)

What ever your cooking on the grid will be indirect cooking and any drippings will likely fall into the pot, which could be a good or bad thing...

Both of mine are too big, so I just put a smaller grate from a Smokey Joe directly on top of the dutch oven and set the meat on top of that.

You could also try a cast iron chicken fryer, which is just a short dutch oven. It might fit.

I know bout the drippings, fer baked beans---a little pork drippings just sweet'n the pot! But normally I'd cover whatever is in it....I'll probably just fabricate some kind of extension....we'll see

Pretty much any size will fit with plate setter legs up. You can use little green feet to slightly elevate the DO to keep food from scorching.
