Well I got my first cook in last night (wings)and I must say it went pretty well. Took a little time to get the temp right but with the help of a friend and fellow egger I was able to get it right on. The wife once a skeptic, now says she will never eat another fried wing again. Well trying Salmon tonight hopefully I can figure this picture thing out today!

Looks good! Welcome to the cult-er-club!
My wife was never a fan of wings until we got an egg. Now she begs me to make them weekly. Her favorite are lemon pepper wings. Recipe here, but I skip the par-boil step: http://houseoffaulkner.com/wings.html
Enjoy your salmon. If you're doing a direct grill, don't be afraid to let the fire get rip-roaring hot. Fish was made for high heat...crusty on the outside, soft and tender on the inside.

Looks great and good
-
Thanks Boilermaker!
-
Wow that looks Good, I was going to use some cedar planks but now that I look at that I may just go direct on the grill!
-
You're welcome, ChargerGuy...and thank YOU for picking Rivers over Brees. It was nice to see my Boilermaker brother be able to go to a team where he could win a Superbowl.
Sorry, was that mean?
Again, welcome to the forum. Can't wait to see your future cooks. -
Sorry the Raiders will beat the Chargers this year...lol Sorry had to throw that in
-
Not mean when its the truth, besides I enjoyed seeing a deserving team Win for once! I am use to it anyway. Part of being a Fan.
-
The way we just threw away all of our players it wouldn't suprise me.
-
I've done the plank thing...Don't know that I'll bother with it too often, though. Direct is wonderful. That salmon was done on a cast iron grate, at the standard (non-raised) height, over a 500-ish degree fire.
I oil the fish and season, brush the grate with an oil-soaked paper towel right before adding the fish. Leave the fish until it releases from the grate easily when you wiggle it with some tongs. I cook salmon with the skin on...it helps hold it together, and if I've got the fire too hot, I don't mind if the skin side burns, the flesh underneath will be fine. If it's really too hot, you can move the salmon pieces off to the side, further from the direct heat. -
I'm in the same boat...I'm a Bears (and Cubs) fan.

Thanks for the Info, I will definatley try it out.

ChargerGuy,
Congratulations on your first cook. I just did mine about a week ago and the feeling is still fresh. Like you, posting the pictures was its own challenge. Somebody had to help me out, too.
I look forward to many more... -
Congratulations - they look very good - the grill looks so clean - you need to do a long cook like a Boston Butt to smoke it up - take lots of photos - enjoy!

Go Chiefs :woohoo:

Tasty looking wings.
Go SAINTS -
Look delicious!Fred A. Bernardo , owner of Tasty Licks BBQ Supply in Shillington, Pa.

Love wings on the Egg. You should pick up a wing/leg rack. Only $5 at Lowes. No flipping needed, helps cook them evenly without burning.
-
Thanks, I will look into one!
