I had a premonition......don't do it Rebecca. But nooooooooooo. I didn't take the time to put on gloves to place my placestter in the egg. I just let it 'drop in' a little bit. Here are the results.
At least I now have a half moon plate setter.

It hurts even more when you knew it would happen and you were just too lazy.
-
We have all been there, unfortunately. Look at it this way, Rebecca - now you have your firebrick for the small.
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Connecticut Yankee, I should have just gone to Lowe's........oh well, lemonade out of lemons.
-
Rebecca save all the larger pieces. If you don't have the saw send them down and I'll trim them into different shapes for you. Great for small indirects while the main cook is direct.
-
It's such a beautiful day here Gwen, I'm just going to roll with it.

Bummer

is it many pieces or just 2 or 3?? if it is 2-3 large chunks go look for JB weld. it will hold it and I bet you can do it yourself
-
The only one I have broken was one I leaned against the egg nest and forgot about it.

That is why God invented welding gloves !!

Ooooohhhhhh Rebecca, I so feel your pain! I did the same thing cooking Christmas dinner! Luckily I had a pizza stone which filled in for the platesetter.

Rebecca, I am not a Connecticut Yankee. I am a Virginian in exile here - so I've been making lemonade out of lemons for years!I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Pat you are tooooooooo kind! Maybe I'll lug it down to the minifest.

Hi Julie, 2 large chunks. Thanks for the idea. I have the new innards for the XLG, so I think I'm finally forced to put it in for my next cook and use the chucks for half moons.
BTW madame, shoot me an email, I owe you for the Sunshine fest T shirt. I knew you would forget....too many of those wonderful grapefruit drinks. Why didn't it make it into Egret's recipe book? -
Yeah, but you still need a brain :woohoo:
-
at least I still have eyebrows Ross.......
-
Oh NO what a shame. Hope the day gets better for you.

Teresa, I just found mind hidden behind a woodpile. It's in pristine condition because I've yet to make a pizza on the egg. :( Good idea. I'll brush it off.
-
:woohoo:
-
That would be expensive waste. Sorry for your loss.
-
Oh man oh man..so sorry Rebecca. We all get in a hurry or take short cuts. I guess if you think of it as an education for all of us that do take shortcuts AND drink..yea don't know if I'd feel better with that one either.

Pattikake, it is a good day and promises to get even better. By the way, I just love your pig!!!!

There's a high price to pay for stupidity.

Molly, I wasn't drinking. If I were, I would have used it as an excuse, lol.
Can you halp me out......what temp and about how long to cook a tiny 2.5 lb chuck of leg of lamb to medium rare. What meat temp, and what egg temp and what is your time estimate. Thanks. -
Rebbeca! I heard crashes on the phone but nothing like that.
Mike -
Mike, it happened 5 minutes later. You must have stuck a pin in that voodoo egg.
-
325-350 temp. I don't do lamb but treat it like pork, minimum "safe" temp is 145. 130 foil and rest, I'd say. Some would do 125 and rest. Hope that is helpfull.Molly
