Coating question
Ms.
Hi,
I have a question about the coating of my BGE.
It is smooth and shiny, but... here and there, there are little pecks where the coating (and the painting) seem not to have taken on.
I'm talking about very small pecks, but I wanted to know if it is normal, if I should use some epoxy to seal the ceramic or if it's something I should address with my dealer...
Thanks, o wise ones!

it's glass. glaze, fired on there, is a slurry of sand essentially. it melts when fired and turns essentially to glass.
neutrinos are the only thing you gotta worry about. hahaha
don't bother sealing it or anything. it'll be fine
expect it to craze (small random spidery cracks). That's normal -
Thanks, that's reassuring. The fiancee was saying the same thing, but hey, I had to confirm...

So who are you trusting, your fiance or some distance stranger?

Made me laugh.

I'm voting for the distant stranger route..
I like Northern Frogs
Really though...What has been said, Don't worry! -
its pretty rare but every once in a while an egg may pop off a section of glaze, its from an imperfection in the origional ceramic not being fully mixed before firing, its so rare ive only seen one, mine, and its covered under warranty. the crazing does occur though and doesnt effect anythingfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it

was there a void or hollow bubble at the spot where it popped, fishless? wondering if moisture got in there and it basically pop-corned
-
there was a nugget, small pebble shaped object, of ceramic dead center of the popped out section, you could see it wasnt thouroughly mixed.fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
