The latest issue of food network magazine had a "Copy That" recipe for the Bonefish Grill Bang Bang Shrimp, so I had to try it since I am a big fan of Bonefish Grill. Dead ringer. Recipe follows.
Frying the shrimp
Bang Bang Shrimp,a nice ribeye with horseradish sauce, and some broccoli
Recipe for the sauce:
1/2 cup mayo
1 TBS plus 1 tsp Asian chili sauce
2 tsp honey
Kosher salt
For the Shrimp:
Vegetable oil for frying
2 large eggs
3/4 cup flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
Kosher salt & pepper
1 1/2 pounds of shrimp peeled
scallions for garnish
Sauce:
Mix mayo, chili sauce, honey, 1/4 tsp salt and 1 tsp water in a large bowl...set aside
Shrimp:
Heat 2 inches of oil in a dutch oven over medium heat until it is 350 degrees or so.
Whisk the eggs in a shallow bowl. Whisk the flour, cornstarch, and 1 tsp each salt and pepper in another bowl.
Dredge the shrimp in the egg then in the flour to thickly coat. Fry in the oil about 1-2 minutes until golden brown. Transfer to paper towel with a slotted spoon to drain.
Toss the shrimp in with the prepared sauce and enjoy!

Looks fantastic!
I have a Bang Bang Shrimp recipe in my cookbook that I haven't tried yet. It only calls for mayo, sweet chili and sirachia sauce. I've never been to the Bonefish Grill but have heard a lot about it and wanted to try this recipe. Do you think the honey is necessary and done it make it really sweet?
Thanks, Sharon -
Thanks for posting. I have been wanting to try that since a news report last week showing the bang bang shrimp as the #1 thing asked for in the Memphis area.
-
Yes, the honey is necessary for the sweetness, and as the glue
-
I highly recommend it! Glad you enjoyed

that looks really good, i really like that chili sauce mixed with something sweet, works with alot of thingsfukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it
-
Yes, you are right...it works well. Now to find other uses for the same mixture.....
-
That looks terrific :woohoo:
Thanks for posting, I will definitely be trying that -
made a similar roumalade last year for fried green tomatoes and grilled pinapple chunks, had a sweet chili garlic sauce drizzled on top with the roumalade on bottom, killer

Boatman, Bang Bang shrimp is one of my favorites. Forum members are really going to appreciate that recipe! Several months ago I googled and got a similar recipe. I'm a wimp when it comes to deep frying on the egg, so I've not made it on the egg.
I also googled the recipe for the Bonefish house vinegarette dressing, it makes a nice light salad. -
Glad you liked it. My first time frying on the egg....no problems.
Here is another Bonefish favorite of mine which I have made many times.
Bonefish Grill Pan Asian Sauce
Ingredients
• 1/4 cup olive oil
• 1/4 cup minced ginger
• 1/4 cup soy sauce
• 1 cup ketchup
• 1 cup oyster sauce
• 3 tbsp. lemon juice
• 1/4 cup water
• 1/2 cup sugar
• 3 tbsp. coarsely chopped cilantro
Directions
1. In a medium sauce pan, saute the minced ginger in the olive oil until fragrant.
2. In a bowl, thoroughly combine the soy sauce, ketchup, oyster sauce, lemon juice and water and add to sauté pan.
3. Bring the mixture to a slow boil, then slowly add sugar over low-med heat for about 5 minutes.
4. If desired, add a little hot water to the sauce to thin it.
Enjoy -
Thanks again Boatman! I'm sure I'll enjoy that sauce as well. Looks like some good seafood is in my future.

What a meal!

Your shrimp looks excellent. I saw the recipe in the magazine and I'm glad you tried it and let us know. Now I will give it a try too.
