Hello PWises iphone! Nice pic....but how in the world do you keep that Mortar clean?? Looks like lava or something?? Lots of porous holes and such... Enjoy the new phone.
-
Hey lc!! Yeah I know... It's lava rock and it's a pain in the butt to clean... This was at my brother's and he tells me he just pops it in the dishwasher... I prefer the marble one I have at home although most folk over here own a lava one...
Sauce was great though, real spicy hehehe
cheers!! -
Pato....Over here?? Haven't been on the forum too much till today...where are you at?? Regardless, enjoy, stay safe, and Happy Cookin!!!

Pato,
In Texas, a chile piquin is a small round chile, about the size of a pea, that is hotter than a habeñero. Is that a bunch of them smashed together, or is that a different chile?__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious -
Hello from Texas, hope to see you in Austin this year.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers.

We miss seeing your posts and I thought the same thing when I saw the mortar it would be a love/hate thing I think LOL
-
I have one just like it. It's called a Mocahete. Sister got it for me in Mexico. Very good at grinding peppers and garlic etc for sauces due to the coarse texture of the bowl.

Hey Gary!
That is the same piquin chile we eat over here.... it's hot as hell but I'm not sure it has a higher scoville rating than habanero, nevertheless is up there with it hehehe...
it was more of a marinade: smashed chiles (lots), lime juice, lemon juice, olive oil, smashes roasted garlic and salt... quite good actually... I'm thinking of how to offer this in the Austin Eggfest...
cheers!! -
Will sure see you there Mickey!!
cheers! -
Hehehe thanks for the kind words! and yes... the mortar... I hate those volcanic types hehe...
cheers!! -
Yeah that's right, Molcajete.... typical from mexico precisely to grind dry chiles... but still a pain in the butt to clean all the tomatillo from the salsa verde hehehe...
cheers! -
Offer it with a warning lable.... :laugh:LBGE Katy (Houston) TX
