Is a rub used for butt a good rub for brisket?? I done several of both, but always wondered if the rubs should be the same.

    Yo Damon!
well, this is just my thoughts, but I think pork is much more flexible for seasonings than beef is. If it works on a brisket, it prolly works on pork, but not vice-versie. Know what ah mean vern?[p]I guess what I mean is I think you can be more creative with pork flavorings that you can with beef.
Not sure if this helps your question at all.
Hope the whole fam-damily is well.

Nature Boy,[p]All is going really well here bouts! Tonight I'm cooking a 9.5 lb brisket flat for a friend. Its BIG. Been smokin since 4:30 this afternoon. Now at 102 degrees (dome temp 225-230). Looking forward to seeing the peeps at EggFest.
    Check you e-mail!![p]Smokey

  • Smokey,[p]I think the only major difference would be a rub for pork butt should have a little more sugar in it, to get a better bark. I think garlic goes real well with beef, whereas it doesn't really work on pork butt as well.
