Many thanks to all who introduced La Bomba antipasto spread to Eggheads in the US and who tried to import it or find a distributor in the US. I really enjoy it, and as of this past weekend I can purchase it close to home.

A special thanks to reelgem for her efforts and post on 7/6/09.

That day I phoned Greco Imports and asked for retail locations in the Chicago area that they supplied with La Bomba.

They gave me three, but all were dead ends. I visited Greco the next morning and asked again in person, and they found that they did not yet supply any retailers in greater Chicago.

I was able to purchase a case of 12 jars, assuring I get my La Bomba 'fix' for a short while anyway. In the following days I asked managers of two of the larger international chain markets in our area if they would bring it in for me. They were very receptive, and yesterday I found La Bomba on the shelf at one them.

You can find it at Garden Fresh Market in Mundelein in aisle 11, between the EVOO and pasta sauces. Now that it is in their system, it is easy for the manager of any of the other seven GF Markets to bring it in for you.

Joe Caputo and Sons in Palatine didn't have it as of today, but Mike said it might take three weeks before he would have it on his shelves. Again, ask for it at their other locations if you live nearby.

I didn't ask Greco where in the US they distributed, or whether they ship to individuals. If you are interested, give them a call (their item# is 42025). The women I met in the front office were very helpful, and rather amused when I told them that a States-wide bbq group was fixated on this antipasto. They said that they had two or three calls before I visited their office that morning and were wondering what it was all about.

So Anne. You have helped out us 'flatlanders', and we thank you for it!
