Pretty much.. Go easy with it on light fishes (Tilapia, Sea bass, etc) and poultry like chicken or turkey.
Pork loves the heck out of Pecan as does anything Cajun..
Blackened White Fish with Pecan is some good eats -
Pecan is awesome. You can use it with most anything. It will add a great color to your poultry. :woohoo:

It is great to mix with apple or hickory for your butts and ribs.

Try it out and will will find a very versatile wood that adds great flavor to your food.

We have a lot of pecan down here and sometimes it is sold as firewood for woodburning stoves-burns great in one of those too. Wonderful flavor-I've not tried it on fish, but pork, beef and chicken do well with it. For the low and slow, I used larger chunks-for the quick cooks, smaller pieces that are soaked in water do well. Of course, it all depends on how you pronounce it-if you say "pee-can" then you are doomed for failure. However, it you say "pu-con" with the emphasis on the con then you are good to go.

Celtic Wolf,
Pecan is my favorite and I need to get out and get some very soon.
A good week to ya,

Pecan and fruitwood go great with everything. The pecan seems to have a less stout flavor than say hickory or mesquite. It's what I would call a mild wood. You'll get a lot of use out of it.

I do the pineapple upside down cake and add chopped pecans to the butter and brown sugar after placing the pineapple in it. The pecan wood could add a little more flavor with the pecan crunch to the pineapple upside down cake.
Try it and let us know.

Ranchonodinero....guess I'm good to go, we are pu caners here in central Alabama. Got turned onto mesquite from ur part of the world by my brother who lives in San Antonio. Went to his daughters wedding years ago and he gave me a box of mesquite wood from his back yard...good stuff.

The north Texas area has both pecan and mesquite trees. The mesquite burns too hot for woodburning stoves and inserts-you have to mix it up. Much stronger flavor too. Makes a great woodturnig wood and the flooring and cabinets made from it are really something.
