Last night's Beer Butt Bird (hvy pics)

G'day all!
Today is supposed to be "gasket day" (see my question / post on my gasket and lid: http://www.eggheadforum.com/index.php?option=com_simpleboard&func=view&id=644294&catid=1
Anyways, wifie decided upon a beer butt chicken.
About a 5 lb bird, rubbed up with some Yumspice (and of course some rickards white ale):
Also got some shrimp to nibble on while the bird was resting after the cook:
I put the shrimp on when the bird was almost done, then took both the shrimp and bird off together.
Here's the bird just about to come off:
Bird resting, so I put some veggies on:
The shrimp didn't last long:
Little birdie all rested - time to carve!
All plated up, with some (non-egged) rosemary potatoes:
Chicken, moist tender delicious! :woohoo:
All hail the big green egg!

If you have any La Bomba put that on the sammich...it really adds to the flavor... :laugh:

Its more about the lid really, a chip in the rim. -
Everyhting looks great. You got some nice color on the chicken - good job.

I only added one small piece of hickory (about 2" cube) for a bit of flavour. I guess that gave it some colour too?
The smoke flavour was there, nice and subtle!
Looking forward to the leftovers today! -
