I searched the forum for flank streak recipes and multiple posts suggest marinating and throwing the flank steak directly on 600* lump, how exactly do you do this without getting ash everywhere? Do you need to blow the ash of the coals prior to putting the steak on?
I'm thinking about making my first flank steak tomorrow. Any suggestions for marinades and/or grilling tips. I'll take all advice!!!
Thanks,
Ed

It's not what you would think. Any lump after doing "caveman" will brush right off. Try it with a cheap cut first and you'll see. I dont do it often but it is a fun experiment. :woohoo:

From what I have read the ash does not stick to the meat.
