The one ingredient that most people never give a thought about is water.

Tap water can contain certain chemicals that can either kill yeast and/or change the way the dough tastes.

Try using spring water.

Or for something fun use a dark beer....just watch out because the pizza can burn quicker..

    Good tip. I'm trying to learn to make bread (I'm terrible, so far,) and recently got some sour-dough started. The directions were quite explicit about avoiding chlorinated tap water. Never really thought about what treated water might do to something as complex as bread.

    As a side note, I came across the original recipe for "Cyn-Chili," which is available as a very nice mix. One specific ingredient was the use of spring water.
