I just received a BGE brand Dutch Oven as a gift, but it does not say anywhere whether it is pre-seasoned. I am pretty sure that it is, but does anyone know for sure? I may just re-season it anyway.

if it's black it is, if it's gun metal gray it's not..
regardless season it anyway -
I recently seasoned a CI frying pan with Crisco and it came out a bit sticky. Is there something else that I should be using. Maybe a nice hunk of fatback?

Bacon grease is the best.. Keeping it in the heat long enough to blacken the grease helps.
Let it all burn off.. -
what temp do you use?
