Hello all,
Last weekend while we were watching the undersized Philly D "manhandle" the Giants O-line, we thought this commercial was kinda funny...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um_hineki0o
I did two 7lb butts from Sam's a couple of days ago on an overnighter. My gasket is toast and I have a quarter inch gap in the back(yellow locking band that has been bent). It was pretty windy and temps never exceeded 275,which is fine with me. I gave one butt vac-sealed to my neighbor for giving me a Toro snowblower that his work was going to throw out. A quick trip to the Toro dealer for a $4 sparkplug and about a half-dozen of pulls and... money
It has come in handy over the last month.
Earlier in the week, I had Food Network on while searching the forum, and Ina Garten(sp?) had a simple recipe for Cornmeal Onion Rings. I kinda put 2 and 2 together(BK commercial and onion rings)and came up with these "Angry Sammies"
For the finishing sauce, I took equal parts of bbq sauce(love the modified Beals sauce guys
, chicken stock, and butter. Diced 2 chipotle peppers in adobo sauce along with a few shakes of Chipotle Tabasco(1 T) Combined the pulled pork and the sauce with sliced jalapenos and set slow cooker on low.
For the onion rings, 1 1/2C flour, 1/4C cornmeal, and a heaping tablespoon of DP JF, and I kept adding cayenne and a little more JF until I could feel the heat(about 1 T). Soak onions in buttermilk for an hour, then dredge, and cook in 350 degree oil for a couple of minutes and turn once.

I was pleased with the outcome. It was hot, but not unbearable hot. It did clear up the sinuses and make the Newcastles go down a little faster
Perfect on a night with an expected low of -32 with the wind chill
I wanted to thank everyone for the warm welcome. I have learned so much from you guys and look forward to learning much more in the future. School starts this week and I won't be a able to cook much, if at all. I will still be on here regularly drooling and replying though
Happy Eggin'

Heat is a good thing if done right. -
Thanks guys,
I totally agree Fidel
. I was kind of tasting as I go to not overdo it. My wife is visiting her parents tonight, so I was cooking for a friend and myself. Good thing he has no problems with a little heat. BrandonQuad Cities

Thanks! Brandon! Those pixs are SO COOL! Are you sure you are taking the right courses? You know, maybe the college course entrance person thought you said you're eggcited when people are sliced open instead of when you said slicing to entice people! Any way we wish you well on your continued nursing studies! You'll be a REAL life saving pleasure for any egger to find in attendance in a recovering hospital room or whatever speciality that you decide to go in to!Re-gasketing the USA one yard at a time

West Chester Pennsylvania -
Wow - does that ever look good.
Think you are morphing from a learner to a teacher! I've tried several of your variations on standard cooks and have yet to be disappointed! Keep those ideas coming! -
Those look awesome! Great shots. I hope you saved some photos to post for the "dry" period while you aren't cooking much.

Thanks guys,
Zippy,
My next post is hopefully gonna be some beautiful pies. I might need a little mentoring?
That asiago fire oil doughnut looks awesome. You sure you didn't steel that pic from a food magazine?
Gandolf,
I'm relying on you guys to help me through the "dry" period.
DOW,
 I'm used to operating with a blown gasket. I bought the egg used and it was already torched. Thank God I didn't create another gasket post huh? I wish there was an emoticon of little green smileys beating a dead horse
I will keep in touch
Lake Conroe Egger,
Thank you for the nice comments. I have so much yet to learn from everyone
