Mornin' I've got my son's semi In-Laws (not married yet) coming for Christmas and his girlfriend and her mother are don't eat meat. Have done the "ordinary" salmon, swordfish, etc things in the past but would like to do something special for their Christmas dinner while the rest of us pig out on MEAT Any suggestions? Thanks

They don't consider seafood meat? -RP

Shellfish? Lobster is always festive, and split and grilled on the Egg is a little easier to tackle than boiled whole.
-
Apparently not. Vegans don't eat seafood or meat, but these two are not Vegans. I guess us Catholics didn't consider seafood to be meat either:)

this ones top notch for serving on the holidays, pretty easy and quick as well. ive done it with shrimp and lobster and both come out good, use basil over the cilantro and with the lobster only part cook steam for 8 to 10 minutes before breaking it down and finish cooking in the curry.

My neighbor's daughter just down the street is also a pescatarian. I send her a bunch of fish from time to time.
How about starting off with cioppino (recipe on the Whiz's site) or a seafood gumbo and then going with a main course. Everyone will enjoy the soup appetizer and then you can go in a couple directions for the meat lovers and pescatarians. I usually do something I have done in the past in a case like this so I don't end up in gaga land with something that didn't work well. Salmon is normally a crowd pleaser.
Good luck with it - hope it turns out well. -
Taking a look now. thanks

Heres our catfish/Salmon roulade we made at the world bbq championchips in belgium this year. Scored pretty good.
Sliced the Catfish Filet about 1/2 " thick, basted with some Wasabi sauce and topped that with a 1/4 " thick slice of salmon. Rolled that up and cooked it til 150 F internal, served in slices on top of a wild herb salad with vinaigrette and honey-mustard sauce and grilled filo dough stuffed with cream cheese and spinach and two bruschetta slices on the side.

Another way to handle a "mixed" crowd is to make kebabs with different proteins. You can do some steak, some chicken, some shrimp, some with veggies only.
Everybody feels happy and not like they are being excluded, left out, or made to eat something different from the others.
