I am picking up my new large BGE on Wednesday, and am wondering if I can load and unload it myself. Does anyone know the approximate weight of the large with everything (grid, fire box, fire ring, and grate) removed? Thanks.

The LBGE is heavy even with everything out of it. Your looking at 150lbs+. Breaking it while moving it is not covered by the warranty, so better to have help and be on the safe side IMHO.

If you break the box down, you should not have a problem with the individual piece weights, biggest piece is the base. However, you'll need a fair amount of cushioned space for the pieces: Base, dome, firering/firebox each require one seat in the car..... you get the idea......Twww.ceramicgrillstore.com ACGP, Inc.

My large stood upright in the back of my wife's SUV. I just cut the box apart and removed piece by piece. Build the nest first.LBGE Katy (Houston) TX

Even with the guts out you will need a friend. If you are strong enough to bench press a house, get a friend. It is an awkward size and shape that requires help.

Congrats on the new egg!! I have the medium and its not light. There is only a couple bolts that hold the lid to the ring. I lossened them and removed my lid and gutted the egg to move it but as said it is awkward and ashame to break it when 2 people can ballance it so much better.

In the words of the immortal Roy D. Mercer, "How big a boy are ya?"
I've carried a fully assembled large up a flight of stairs. I've unloaded one from the back of an SUV.
It is not light. If you are strong and determined it can be done, but having help would be in your best interests.
Best bet would be to remove the dome, then carry the base, dome, and internals all separately. Makes it much easier and safer. -
Well, I'm a pretty big boy. but 64 years old. So, I think I'll get some help.
If I removed the dome, I'm afraid I might run into problems replacing it.
Thanks,

Where are you? An experienced egghead may be close and willing to come help.

West Kentucky, but I can get plenty of help with unloading, so I'll just take my time and I'm sure we can get it done.
