Ok, So it's 12:45 am and I am trying to get the temp up on the egg so I can put the 4 butts on.( this was last week) I can't remember what all went on but the flashback was out of the bottom vent. Anyone else have one of these. It kinda woke me up (temporarily). It only happened the once. Any idea why?

Thanks

Rick

    Same reason it happens in the dome.

    HEAT + VOC + O2 = POOF!!!

    VOC = volatile organic compounds.

    What CW said.
    And, you're controling your temps with the daisy. Yes?

    I am controling my temps with both the daisy and the bottom vent. On most of my long cooks I have had the daisy almost closed and the bottom vent about a 1/4 inch. Keeps the egg at a nice 250. Just got the stoker in the mail yesterday. Need to read and learn it. Still tired from the last Butt cook, last friday.

    I was just wondering why I would get a flashback all the way down thru a pile of lump when heat rises.
