My last cedar plank cook was with reused cedar planks, I washed them after last use and before latest cook the salmon came out with a nasty oily taste. I thought the planks could be reused. What is the consenses in Egg land? Use once and throw away or multi use?

I wash mine in hot water only and get at least two uses. I don't use cedar ones though....Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery

cedar is cedar is cedar.
if you buy them just for cooking, it comes to about $30 a board foot.
i use cedar shingles. they are all untreated unless they say they ARE treated. a small bundle will last a few years. i throw them out when i'm done.
you can also buy true lumber. furniture grade cedar, maple, oak. whatever you want. cut to length and you are good to go. there's no magic to it.ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante -
I am currently using (untreated) scraps from my cedar table.
