Thanks dhuffjr, your advice proved favorable. I added 25% Turbinado/75% Bad Byron and the results were fantastic.
I Did the yellow mustard rub prior as well. Drip pan was filled with 50% apple juice/%50 water. This 9# butt was ready to burst after 16 hours @ 240/270 dome.

The end result was fabuluous, very moist and tasty. There was none left after the party. Not that anything would have lasted with a bunch of newly graduated 8th grade boys 9and parents).
The Maker's Mark brand Q sauce was good. The homemade Carolina Red in the sox bottle was better.
