I'll cut you the same deal I offered the good Dr. I'll buy smoked turkey at Gibson's if you find your trip near this part of the country.

Check out the Washington DC & Baltimore Area bulletin board on Chowhound: http://www.chowhound.com/boards/14
Lots of good suggestions there, and it's searchable.
I don't know Charlottesville very well, but in Baltimore I would stay away from the chain restaurants of Inner Harbor. Lexington Market is a unique and historical place in Baltimore, and you can get excellent seafood at Faidley's. (I love their raw bar!) -
If you would like to go high end in baltimore, Try to get a reservation for Charleston. Southern low country food goes gourmet. If your willing to come down to Annapolis, shoot me an email and i'll give you a list of places to try.

In Baltimore, there's a cool, eclectic neighborhood called Fells Point. Bertha's was always my favorite, but there's lots of good eateries and great music.

In the Charlottesville area: Lots of unique places in the area they call the downtown mall. Within a few miles of a drive is a little town called Crozet, there was a very good italian place and another good place that served more of a steak/seafood menu. I lived in that area about 4 yrs ago, so some things could've changed.

In Baltimore try Sabatinos in Little Italy. Start with a Bookmaker salad with the house dressing and maybe the Sabatinos sampler that includes: shrimp renato, sausage with peppers, clams casino, and garlic bread. Good stuff. The bookmaker is a large salad with shrimp, cheese, salami, pepperoncini, and olives. The dressing is a thick parmesan with it's own taste. Nothing to compare it to but real tasty. For the main course the wife and I usually split the tortellini in tortellini sauce, but you really can't go wrong with any of the entree's. Good luck. Post back and let us know which one you chose.
