I was just checking the Sitka cam and noticed what looked like a hugh flock of something flying by. any idea what is migrating this time of year?

    Nothing is migrating. Those are seagulls that are collecting around town because the herring are getting ready to spawn. If you watch the webcam you will probably see a few large seine boats cruising through the channel - the herring opening is set to be a big one this year. If you look up sac roe herring fishing you will find all kinds of info on it.... big money & a big deal here in Sitka.

    I'll be posting some pics as soon as the opening gets closer - it is something you won't see anywhere else! B)
