In Scotland turnips are referred to as neeps.

    How about "Neep al Bente"

Next time you get a bunch of turnips you may want to try a turnip stew - pretty popular around here.

    Roux
    Chopped Seasoning:
    Onions
    Onion Tops
Bell Pepper (I like red ones)
    Celery
    Garlic

    Turnips
    Pork (or Sausage or Andoille)
    Chicken stock (or vegetable stock)

    Brown the roux
Add the seasonings and cook down
    Add the pork
Brown the pork in the roux and seasonings
    Add the stock
Add the turnips - we normally peal the turninps and cut them into bite size pieces
Simmer till the turnips are tender

Believe me, if you tell your boys they are potaoes, years from now they will still be telling each other "Remember when dad gave us those turnips....." Yep you guessed it, my stepmom pulled the old turnip-potato switcheroony on us! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Once my sisters and I figured out what she did, we spent the rest of the afternoon watching our brothers come in from work and get huge portions of "cheesy potatoes". The looks on their faces were priceless!!

    Shweeet!!

I guess once you do the roux like Richard mentioned, you can call it Turnip the Volume Gumbo.

That's cool. Even if it is just the wife's approval, I feel like I won sumthin!!
    hehe
