I used Minwax spar poly satin finish on my Cedar and birch plywood table and it seems to be holding up well. I do try and keep it covered when not in use though.

That might be a bit difficult since I live in California. Sounds really interesting however. As mentioned in my first post.....I'm a newbie and will be looking for any help I can get. I'm really looking forward getting into this.

Nice table! I put three coats of marine varnish on my tables (red wood) and although they are only a couple months old they look brand new.
