Concern/heat too high in beginning?

Hey everyone. I have read several times in the forum how you should not heat a NEW egg to sear a steak until you have cooked numerous times..10-12 ..Well,I did not know that when I cooked steaks the 2nd, 3rd and 4th time on my grill...temp over 700. At least I did cook chicken the first time I fired it up! Is there anything I should check at this time...grrr..I feel so stupid. I watched the video and read the cookbook info..nothing was said about not firing it up high in the beginning. I hate to say this but is that "guy knowledge" ..Thank you again.

Car Wash Mike, Thank you for the words of encouragement. If it was going to blow/melt..whatever,,it would have happened while I was cooking? Just concerned if I needed to check something to make sure it does not "check out" while I have something else going on. Thank you Mike.

Morro Bay Rich,..Yes, it does sound like I dodged a bullet...but I did not dodge the steam...however, ,,that only took one time...wear gloves and burp and burp now!
