fish smoking question

I'm thinking about smoking some fish. (I remember the great smoked mullet I ate growing up in Fla and am wanting to try some since I can't find it in these parts.)

The question I have is - does the egg pick up a fishy smell / taste? I'm concerned about the ceramic. If it pickups a fishy smell / taste would a high temp burn after smoking fish burn it off.... or should I not bother.
