I've been using the Egg for about 3 months, learn alot, however, searing escapes me.[p]How do you sear? Seems like the temperature escapes and no searing occurs. [p]Mike

mike,[p]make sure it is 650 to 700 for about 10 minutes. What you need is to make sure that the grate is hot enough and will hold the heat to sear.[p]A cast iron Grate helps to hold the heat.... and if you really want it seared, put in a cast iron skillet, get it hot and sear it in the skillet.

Master Mason,[p]Your advice is right on. I need to get the cast iron Grate for searing as well. Happy Holidays, AZ Traveler

Master Mason,[p]Once the meat is on, do I turn it?

mike,[p]I get the temp to 650-700, burp the egg (this saves my arm hair, eyebrows and what little hair I have left on my head from getting burned or singed), open the top and throw the meat on the grill. Then I close the top until I'm ready to flip it. Then I repeat the process. I get a nice sear every time.

Mike,[p]Yes, I sear for about 90 seconds per side... everyone has their own preference though
