Need help for Thanksgiving...
Options
Okay guys.. need some expert help. Here's what we have and what we want.. just don't know how to go about it.[p]Have an approx 8 1/2 lb pork butt roast, boneless. We would like to have pulled pork, falling apart to take for Thanksgiving. Some questions:[p]How long to cook? At what temp? How do you get a fire to last more than 6-7 hours? What wood would you use? Do you inject it with anything? We have all kind of Dizzy Pig rubs.. which one would be best? Do you cook indirect? [p]I'm sure all these questions have been answered many, many times.. I just don't have time to scroll through everything! I appreciate all the help, as always![p]Lisa

Pharmeggist,
Thanks for the link! Question though.. what is a plate setter?
-
Lisa,
Click on link below to see a picture of a plate setter. I flip the plate setter with the legs up and put the grill grate on top of the legs with a metal pan below to catch the dripings. [p]Best regards, Pharmeggist

Lisa,
Indircect. If plate setter is unavilable, you can use fire brick and a second grid. Fire brick is avilable at a fire place or wood stove store. three brick on the bottom and two to hold the grid. DP DIZZY DUST is great. [p]Ron

Lisa,
DIzzy Dust does well on pork butt. Also, if you do not have a platesetter, I have used one of those disposable oval turkey pans, putting it with the rim on the place where the grill rests (you may have to jam it a bit and maybe crunch it a bit to make it shallower), then place the grill on top. Worked for me. Good luck! [p]Brett
