When placing the turkey on the BGE, is using a Vertical Turkey Holder the way to go?

    Revolution,
if you follow the mad max method (see attached) you don't have to go vertical ...you certainly can though if you want to . . ..

  • mad max beyond eggdome,I loved your receipe, but I kinda got caught up in the "Roasting Pan", so I was thinkging that being my first Turkey on the BGE, that it might be easier on the Vertical.

    revoluton,
no problem. .. as i've mentioned to some others. ..if you dont' have a turkey stand, go buy a big can of foster's beer and use that ...it will be great. ..

Revolution,[p]The limit on vertical roasters is about a 16 pound bird.[p]If I do a bird that is 16 pounds or under, I use the Spanek Vertical Roaster, and the results have always been outstanding. Bigger, I use a roasting pan and the Mad Max recipe.[p]I'll be doing a 15-16 pound bird this T-day and I'm doing it vertically.[p]I love the vertical roasters, but for big birds, they just don't work.
