Background: My family always does a big Sunday meal. This weekend we moved into a new house here in Denver, and so for the first time since we evacuated New Orleans after Katrina we had our Sunday meal in our own house. Very exciting for us! [p]Cook: I bought a 3+ lb pork shoulder roast and the same amount of country pork ribs. Both were prepped with Dizzy Pig rub and plenty of brown sugar. [p]Got the egg to a steady 250 degrees with a couple of large hickory chunks, with plate setter and double grill. [p]Put the ribs on the bottom, and roast on the top. [p]Smoked them at 250 indirect for about 2 hours per lb for the roast / 6 hrs total. At that point the roast was at/near the 185 internal, so I foiled it and the ribs. Added BBQ sauce, a dash of cider vinegar, and some apple juice into the foil. Cooked for an additional hour + at about 300-325 degrees. By that time internal for the roast was around 195.[p]All of the pork came out steaming, smoky, tender, juicy, and falling off the bones. [p]Hope this is a harbinger of good things to come here in Denver! :) Dickson

Green_Giant,[p]Indeed! I hope your relocation works as well as your Egg cook. Having a big Sunday dinner is a great thing, followed by a big Sunday nap.[p]Is the Egg new to you, or did you have it on New Orleans?[p]gdenby

    Green_Giant,
Sounds great. A family friend is moving to Colorado too. They are selling their house in the Pensacola area as they are tired of dodging storms as well. They got pretty hammered not too long ago.

  • Green_Giant,[p]Congrats on your new house, good eats, and great friends and family. Enjoy AZ

Green_Giant,[p]Just got back from a weekend in Denver. Now my wife wants to move there. Good luck!

  • The egg is new - to me at least. I got lucky and found it used on craigslist the first few weeks I'd moved out here (in May).

I'd wanted one in New Orleans, but never pulled the trigger on a new one. This one was a great buy - what I considered a "welcome to Denver" present !

Ironically, at that time the sum total of my wordly possessions consisted of two suitcases of clothing and one large BGE ! Dickson
