I decided to make my own wiggle rod seenin how all orders are backed up. This is just a temp. thing but I need to know how long the end is. My BGE is full of lump and ready to go and I didn't want to take it out to be able to measure. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks a million again. Mik

    Mik of Alaska,
I just took a piece of a coat hanger wire and bent up a 90 degree piece of it about 4 inches. Works for me. I think 3 inches would probably be long enough, but I just bent about 4 and it does seem to work. I just wiggle the coals if the fire seems to start dropping for no reason? ;)[p]later,
    ron.

ChefRD, That was the answer I was looking for. I got a piece of steel welding rod and I even went thru the trouble of making a handle for it. I just needed to know about how long. Do you think 3 1/2 inches will do? thanks again. Mik

Mik of Alaska,[p]Since you are limited by the height of the door when probing the firebox, if you put one upward zig-zag bend into it, (kind of a sideways stretched out Z) toward the 90 degree bend end, it will extend farther into the lump.
